Welcome to the new website

I have been wanting to update my website for a few years now but had never gotten around to it however 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone & with less work all round in the hospitality industry you start to reflect on what is actually important to you. I am a great believer in the theory you should do what you love & then you never have to work a day in your life. I have had time to reflect & know wholeheartedly that I am totally in the right profession, but I had to decide where my focus should lie.

My love & passion will always be for cake artistry. I like to keep my hand in with the odd cake order for a wedding or an event because there is nothing quite like the buzz of making people’s cake dreams come true & being a small part in their celebration is a true honour, however I also have a passion for teaching & sharing knowledge.

I have been teaching now for 8 years & get a massive buzz seeing people nervously turn up for class lacking in confidence but never ability & then smashing the final design & walking out proudly with their finished masterpiece. I get to watch people grow in confidence & ability & that is very satisfying. I have to teach what I love to do as then I can pass that passion for that subject onto my students so currently my classes focus on my passion for airbrushing, hand painting & royal icing. If I get anymore passions, you can bet there will be a class on it & probably more products to compliment them!

So, I am a bit late to the party! It has been exceedingly difficult to run group classes this year during a pandemic & my last class was in February – unbeknownst to me at the time! So after the initial lockdown panic & home-schooling hell I started to think about where I wanted Clairella Cakes to go in the future. For years people have nagged me from all over the world that they would love my classes to be online, I have had the best intentions in the past to get this done but not really given enough time to it & also not being very tech savvy it kept dropping to the bottom of my long “to do” list. But no more – I am joining the party, apologies for being so late!

My intentions are to have a beautiful & easy to navigate website where amongst other things you can easily find your online tutorials.  There will be a mix of old favourites & new classes for a one off affordable price plus there will also be free mini demos to show you how to use certain Clairella Cakes products. There will be cake decorating projects for a range of abilities & cookie ones too…… you know how much I love cookies!
